Solana cuts blockchain slot time to 350 milliseconds
Summary
Solana has reduced its slot time to 350 milliseconds, the first slot-time cut since the network launched. Average slot times were about 360ms at the time cited, down from the original 400ms target. The change is part of a broader plan to speed Solana further, with the goal of eventually reaching 200ms through three more 50ms reductions. Those reductions are planned for mainnet activation in Agave v4.2, though timing is not final. The slot-time proposal, SIMD-0525, was approved and merged on May 14.
