Solana ETF regulatory filings flood in as Gensler sets departure date

Summary

Cboe BZX Exchange submitted four 19b-4 filings for spot Solana ETFs from Bitwise, VanEck, 21Shares, and Canary Capital. If approved, these ETFs will be listed on the CBOE’s BZX Exchange. The filings coincide with SEC Chair Gary Gensler's announcement of his resignation in January. Bitwise registered a statutory trust for a spot Solana ETF on November 20 and filed its S-1 the following day. Industry experts anticipate a more favorable regulatory environment for crypto ETFs following Gensler's departure. A spokesperson from 21Shares stated that Solana's token, SOL, is eligible for ETF inclusion as a commodity. Other asset managers have also filed for spot XRP and Litecoin ETFs. Analysts expect smaller inflows for Solana ETFs compared to Bitcoin and Ether ETFs. Solana's price has increased over 2,500% in the current bull cycle, nearing its all-time high of $259.96 from November 2021.
