Standard Chartered adds Ripple USD custody, eyes LMAX collateral deal

Summary

Standard Chartered has launched custody support for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger through its Dubai branch, making the service available to eligible institutional clients. The bank plans to extend its collateral-mirroring model to LMAX Group, allowing clients to use RLUSD as trading collateral while the tokens remain in Standard Chartered’s custody. The approach is intended to reduce transfer risks and counterparty exposure. The expanded capability is still subject to documentation, testing, regulatory requirements and internal approvals.
