Strategy Swings From $13 Billion Bitcoin Loss to $1.4 Billion Profit as BTC Rallies

Summary

Strategy is back in profit on its Bitcoin treasury after a five-day BTC rally lifted prices above its average purchase level. The company holds 840,447 BTC, now worth about $64.97 billion, giving it an unrealized gain of roughly $1.4 billion at Bitcoin near $77,000. That marks a sharp reversal from July, when the stake was about $13 billion underwater. Strategy shares jumped about 10% in premarket trading to $120, a two-month high. The turnaround follows a shift in treasury management: since May, Strategy has sold 6,948 BTC for about $432.5 million, including 1,690 BTC sold in early August to repurchase STRC preferred stock. It later paused Bitcoin sales and raised $334 million through MSTR share sales, using the cash for preferred dividends, STRC buybacks, and a larger dollar reserve. Bitcoin’s latest rally was helped by renewed U.S. regulatory momentum around the Clarity Act.
