Sui Foundation says ‘major upgrade’ fixed bugs behind three outages
Summary
Sui Foundation says it deployed a major upgrade after three recent outages that left the Sui blockchain down for more than 15 hours over two days. The outages were caused by crash bugs introduced in version 1.72, including a gas-charging bug that created negative balances and a randomness-state bug. An interim fix for the first issue contributed to a later halt. Validators have now addressed the known issues, and network activity has resumed. The foundation said no user funds were at risk and no committed transactions were reverted. It also plans improvements in failure containment, end-of-epoch resilience, and AI-assisted diagnostics. SUI fell about 11% after the outages, to around 88 cents.
