Surprise nonfarm payrolls print sends Bitcoin back below 80K

Summary

US nonfarm payrolls rose by 162,000 in August, far above the 56,000 expected, and Bitcoin fell from about $81,300 to $78,600 before recovering near $79,500. The strong jobs data added uncertainty ahead of the Sept. 15–16 FOMC meeting, where rate expectations were already split. After Governor Christopher Waller signaled support for a pause, markets briefly leaned 60% toward no change, but the jobs report pushed expectations back to roughly even odds between a pause and a 25 bps hike. Trump again urged the Fed to cut rates. Separately, supporters of the BIP-110 Bitcoin soft fork launched a Blake2b proof-of-work hard fork on Aug. 30 to reduce mining centralization; liquidity is thin, with only one exchange listing and low-volume trading.
