Suspect in $190M Nomad hack to be extradited to the US: Report

Summary

Alexander Gurevich, a Russian-Israeli citizen, is set to be extradited to the US following his arrest at an Israeli airport while attempting to board a flight to Russia. He is implicated in the $190 million Nomad Bridge hack, accused of computer crimes including laundering millions and transferring stolen property. Gurevich allegedly exploited a vulnerability in the Nomad Bridge in August 2022, stealing approximately $2.89 million. After the hack, he contacted Nomad's CTO on Telegram, admitting to seeking a crypto protocol to exploit and transferring $162,000 back to a recovery wallet. He later demanded $500,000 for identifying the vulnerability. US authorities indicted him on eight counts in August 2023, with extradition requested in December 2024. Money laundering charges could lead to a maximum of 20 years in prison. Gurevich reportedly returned to Israel shortly before the hack occurred.
