Telegram Users in US Can Now Access Native Crypto Wallet
Telegram's native crypto wallet, TON Wallet, is now available for U.S. residents, enabling users to buy, sell, and send cryptocurrencies within the app. Developed by The Open Platform, the wallet is a self-custody solution that launched internationally in September 2023. Over 100 million users activated the wallet globally last year, with potential growth from Telegram's 87 million U.S. users. The launch is supported by the TON Foundation, which aims to integrate decentralized finance into everyday life. Users can trade USDT, TON, and other tokens, as well as access staking and yield opportunities with no fiat on-ramp fees via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or credit cards. The TON blockchain's development was initially halted in 2020 due to regulatory issues but was revived by a community of developers.
