Tether backs Bolivian fintech bringing USDT payments to food delivery and banking
Summary
Tether led an undisclosed pre-seed investment in Bolivian fintech Peso to help expand USDT payment services in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. Peso supports QR and point-of-sale payments, banking-linked virtual accounts, and USDT payments on Bolivia’s Yango food delivery service. The investment comes amid growing stablecoin use in Bolivia, where a prolonged dollar shortage and inflation have increased demand for USDT. The government has explored integrating digital assets into the financial system and recognizing USDT for payments, savings and trade.
