Tether, Bitfinex Move $2.7 Billion in Bitcoin to Twenty One Capital
Tether moved 25,812 Bitcoin to a new address, valued at approximately $2.7 billion, as part of a pre-funding initiative for Twenty One Capital, a Bitcoin treasury company linked to Bitfinex, Cantor Fitzgerald, and SoftBank. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced this on social media, indicating it supports an equity raise for Twenty One Capital. CEO Jack Mallers stated that the company would demonstrate proof of reserves and share wallet addresses showing contributions from Tether and SoftBank. Mallers mentioned that 31,500 Bitcoin would be moved, including 10,500 from Tether. Twenty One Capital plans to list on Nasdaq via a SPAC merger with Cantor Equity Partners under ticker XXI. The company aims to raise $100 million through convertible notes for further Bitcoin acquisitions.
