Tether Signs Deal With Kazakhstan's Central Bank to Explore a Stablecoin and Tokenized Assets
Summary
Tether signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan’s National Bank and Alatau City Authority to explore a tenge-pegged stablecoin and tokenized-asset pilots in the planned smart city. The parties will study stablecoin models, choose asset categories and train central bank staff, but the agreement sets no pilot dates and does not specify who would issue the token. The nonbinding memorandum may involve Tether’s Hadron platform. Kazakhstan already has a separate tenge stablecoin pilot, Evo, and plans to tokenize two Alatau properties worth up to $60 million by the end of 2026.
