Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm’s retrial delayed to April 2027
Summary
Roman Storm’s retrial has been postponed from Oct. 26, 2026, to Apr. 26, 2027, while Judge Katherine Polk Failla considers his motion for acquittal and a related continuance request. Storm’s lawyers asked for the delay on Aug. 3, saying they need at least 90 days after a ruling to prepare; prosecutors opposed the adjournment. In March, prosecutors had sought an October retrial on two counts after the jury deadlocked on money laundering conspiracy and sanctions conspiracy charges. Storm was convicted in August 2025 of conspiring to operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business, which carries up to five years in prison, and now seeks acquittal on all three charges.
