Tron says DAO X hack cost victims $45K, Curve Finance also hit
A hacker compromised the Tron DAO X account, reportedly soliciting around $45,000 in funds through a fraudulent contract address and direct messages for promotional advertising. Tron’s security team quickly regained control and warned the community against such scams. The hack may have stemmed from a social engineering attack targeting a team member. Tron is investigating the incident and has contacted law enforcement. Allegations against crypto exchange OKX regarding inaction on freezing stolen funds were made by Tron founder Justin Sun but later retracted. Curve Finance also experienced an X account takeover, where a scammer posed as the firm to promote a fraudulent CRV airdrop. The Curve team regained access with cybersecurity assistance and confirmed no client-side compromise was detected. Other notable hacks this year include accounts of UK Parliament member Lucy Powell and crypto data aggregator Kaito AI, highlighting a trend of social media account compromises in the crypto space.
