UAE regulatory approval bolsters Ripple’s quest to rival SWIFT in cross-border payments
Ripple has received in-principle approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), becoming the first blockchain-based payment service provider licensed by the DFSA. This approval allows Ripple to expand operations in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and deploy its digital asset infrastructure across the UAE, including launching its Ripple Payments Direct solution for cross-border payments. Ripple now holds over 55 licenses globally, enhancing its regulatory compliance and infrastructure investments. The licensing positions Ripple as a potential challenger to SWIFT in cross-border payments. Ripple's growth strategy in the Middle East is supported by the UAE's regulatory clarity, facilitating access to expanding markets in Africa and South Asia. The UAE is recognized for its leadership in financial technology, fostering an environment for innovative crypto firms.
