US Bitcoin ETFs now hold more BTC than Satoshi Nakamoto

Summary

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have surpassed 1.1 million BTC in total holdings, exceeding those held by Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin. As of December 5, spot Bitcoin ETFs held approximately 1,103,965 BTC, marking a significant milestone since their launch in January. This total surpasses holdings by Binance by 42% and MicroStrategy by 63%. Satoshi Nakamoto is estimated to hold around 1.1 million BTC, representing 5.2% of the total supply. Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, expressed skepticism about Nakamoto's existence, suggesting he is likely no longer alive, especially in light of Bitcoin's recent price surge past $100,000.
