VanEck to launch its first RWA tokenization fund
VanEck is launching a tokenized real-world asset (RWA) fund named VBILL, providing exposure to US Treasury bills, in collaboration with Securitize. The fund will be available on Avalanche, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Solana blockchains. Minimum subscriptions are set at $100,000 for Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Solana, while Ethereum requires a $1 million minimum. VanEck joins other traditional finance firms like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton in the RWA tokenization market. US Treasurys, with a market cap of $6.9 billion, are a significant asset class in tokenized funds. Securitize has tokenized over $3.9 billion in assets and recently raised $47 million in funding led by BlackRock. Advocates highlight benefits of tokenization, including faster settlement times and enhanced liquidity. SEC Chair Paul Atkins noted the potential of onchain securities to transform the securities market, likening it to the shift from analog to digital music.
