Wall Street Financial Services Firm Lazard Plans to Create Tokenized Funds with Bitfinex Securities
Lazard plans to create tokenized funds in collaboration with Bitfinex Securities and SkyBridge Invest, focusing on asset tokenization under Kazakhstan's financial services law. The Astana Financial Services Authority will oversee the funds, which will be available to retail users with geographic limitations and purchasable using Tether's stablecoin (USDT). A memorandum of understanding was signed during the Plan B conference in Lugano, Switzerland. The tokenized funds will provide exposure to Lazard-managed global and emerging market equity funds, previously accessible only to professional investors. Tokenization aims to enhance efficiency, liquidity, and reduce operational costs. The real-world asset (RWA) tokenization sector is rapidly growing, with expectations of becoming a multi-trillion dollar market. Lazard manages $245 billion in assets, while Bitfinex Securities operates in El Salvador and Kazakhstan.
