Wall Street Titan Guggenheim Tokenizes $20M of Commercial Paper on Ethereum

Summary

Guggenheim Treasury Services has issued $20 million of tokenized commercial paper on the Ethereum blockchain, confirmed by a spokesperson. This follows Siemens AG's issuance of digital commercial paper via JPMorgan’s Onyx and SWIAT. The tokenization of traditional financial instruments, known as real-world assets (RWA), has gained traction among traditional finance firms, with a market capitalization of $12 billion, including $2 billion in tokenized U.S. government securities. Zeconomy's CEO highlighted the demand for trusted blockchain solutions amid significant capital in decentralized finance (DeFi) and corporate treasuries. The commercial paper received a P-1 rating from Moody's, indicating the highest credit quality. Guggenheim, managing $300 billion in assets, has previously engaged in the crypto space, allowing its Macro Opportunities Funds to invest in Bitcoin-related assets.
