Weekend stock tokens predict Monday open, but guessing up scores 55%

Summary

A Bitquery study of 121 tokenized stocks found that weekend token prices offered little reliable help in predicting the next stock-market open. At the main Sunday cutoff, tokens correctly predicted 54% of qualifying moves, below a simple strategy of predicting a rise (55%); balanced accuracy was 53%, with a wide 44%–62% interval. Across all observations, using token moves produced greater median opening-price error than assuming Friday’s close. A later-cutoff test showed better results but used different filters and a smaller sample, limiting comparison. The findings do not establish a forecasting advantage, and the study notes that expanded Nasdaq trading hours could reduce the tokens’ timing advantage. Weekend access and blockchain-wallet transfers remain distinct potential benefits, subject to eligibility and ownership limitations.
