WhiteBIT secures MiCA license in Austria ahead of July 1 EU deadline
Summary
WhiteBIT received MiCA authorization from Austria’s Financial Market Authority, enabling it to provide regulated crypto services across the European Economic Area under a single passported license. The exchange plans to launch a dedicated European platform, whitebit.eu. Austria is among the first EU jurisdictions to fully shift to MiCA, with no extension of legacy grandfathering after Dec. 31, 2025. The approval comes just before the EU’s July 1 MiCA transition deadline, after which crypto firms must hold a MiCA license or stop serving clients in the bloc. The deadline is increasing pressure on exchanges still seeking authorization, and ESMA has said unauthorized firms should prepare wind-down and client migration plans.
