Yuga Labs Demands $400K in Influencer’s Crypto Wallets Over NFT Lawsuit
Yuga Labs has filed a turnover order in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to seize nearly $400,000 in crypto assets from influencer Jeremy Cahen, known as Pauly0x. The assets are held in four wallets and include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and PEPE coin. Yuga Labs previously sued Cahen and artist Ryder Ripps for trademark infringement related to the Ryder Ripps Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, resulting in a judgment of nearly $9 million in February 2024. Cahen has not complied with the court's judgment or discovery requests, prompting Yuga Labs to initiate asset recovery efforts, including subpoenas and levies on multiple financial institutions. Cahen allegedly transferred $396,946 in crypto to evade a levy from Gemini. He claims he is not obligated to comply with discovery while his appeal is pending. Additionally, Cahen is wanted for aggravated assault in Puerto Rico and has faced accusations of scamming. The court has yet to rule on Yuga Labs' turnover motion.
