Zcash developers pick November block for upgrade that triples payment speed
Summary
Zcash developers have agreed to target block 3,543,405, around Nov. 5, for the NU7 mainnet upgrade, which would cut block times from 75 to 25 seconds. The change has been tested since October. NU7 would also divert 60% of block fees from circulation until payments to miners begin around February 2031, and permanently disable the original Sprout privacy system. Sprout holders must move their coins before activation or lose access to them. The activation proposal had not yet been merged into the deployment specification, and node software still needs to include the selected block height.
