$1 billion in trading volume masks hidden liquidity risks for Coinbase stock token holders
A Sept. 23 check of Coinbase stock tokens on Base found indicative routes for selling about $100,000 of each of ten tokens, with estimated proceeds 0.06%–0.71% below KyberSwap’s token valuations. The ten Aerodrome pools displayed about $12.97 million in combined balances, but balances and roughly $1.02 billion in cumulative trading volume do not reveal how much liquidity could absorb a large sale. Quotes were snapshots, not executed trades, and some routes reached liquidity beyond Aerodrome. Coinbase says tokens are backed by shares in regulated custody, but secondary trading can continue outside US stock-market hours while the equity price feed holds its last value. Authorized participants control minting and redemption, so immediate exits depend on secondary-market liquidity that may shift with incentives, provider capital and market conditions.
