Apple KYC glitch on Bybit draws swift executive response to recover $100K
Bybit addressed a glitch affecting a single user unable to complete KYC verification via Apple ID, involving multiple departments, including the COO. The issue was reported on May 18, leading to an internal investigation that determined it was an isolated case, with no tampering of KYC information and funds remaining secure. The response was reportedly expedited due to the influence of crypto influencer EnHeng, who flagged the issue after verifying it in a group chat. He emphasized the importance of using influence to advocate for retail investors. Being locked out of exchange accounts is not uncommon, often serving as a protective measure against fund losses. Other exchanges, like Phemex and Mudrex, have also temporarily halted withdrawals due to suspicious activities or compliance improvements. The incidents highlight the adage "Not your keys, not your coins," underscoring the importance of controlling private keys for asset security.
