Strategy and Metaplanet Bought Combined $870 Million Worth of Bitcoin
Strategy and Metaplanet announced significant Bitcoin purchases. Michael Saylor confirmed that Strategy acquired 7,390 BTC for $764.9 million, increasing its total holdings to 576,230 BTC, approximately 2.74% of Bitcoin's total supply. Saylor predicted a "digital gold rush" ending in January 2035. Metaplanet added 1,004 BTC for $104.8 million, bringing its total to 7,800 BTC valued at $803.7 million. This contributed to Bitcoin's surge above $106,000. MicroStrategy's reserves have appreciated by nearly $20 billion since August 2020, reflecting a 48.6% unrealized gain. Metaplanet aims to acquire 10,000 BTC by year-end but has seen its Bitcoin yield decline from 309.8% to 47.8%. Strategy's yield stands at 16.3% for 2025, with its stock rising 25.8% in the past month.
