Australian Securities Exchange Could Approve Spot-Bitcoin ETFs Before 2024-End: Bloomberg

Summary

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is expected to approve the first spot-Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by the end of 2024. DigitalX Ltd. and VanEck have both applied for approval, while Sydney-based BetaShares is also working on launching a product on the ASX. The ASX has not commented on these applications but has confirmed its engagement with issuers interested in crypto-asset-based ETFs. This follows the recent approval of Bitcoin ETFs in the US and Hong Kong. Additionally, Australia-based Monochrome Asset Management has applied for a spot bitcoin ETF with Cboe Australia, a smaller rival of ASX.
