VanEck's Spot Bitcoin ETF Goes Live on Australia's Biggest Stock Exchange

Summary

Australia's largest equity exchange, the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), listed its first spot-bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), the VanEck Bitcoin ETF (VBTC). The ETF, which provides exposure to bitcoin by investing in the company's Bitcoin Trust (HODL), a U.S. ETF listed on Cboe, traded 99,791 shares on its first day, ending at A$20.06 ($13.4), a 1% increase from its opening price. This follows the listing of the Monochrome bitcoin ETF (IBTC) on the Cboe Australia exchange in June, which holds bitcoin directly and has traded an average of 55,000 units a day since its launch. The two listings indicate a growing interest in bitcoin ETFs in Australia.
