Binance CEO: Crypto Aligns With Bhutan’s Happiness Vision
Binance CEO Richard Teng stated that cryptocurrency and digital asset technology can support Bhutan's Gross National Happiness (GNH) development philosophy. Teng emphasized that crypto values align with Bhutan's focus on well-being, financial freedom, and inclusion. Bhutan's GNH model prioritizes collective happiness over economic growth, integrating emotional and spiritual well-being into its identity. Teng noted that crypto can uplift individuals, particularly in underbanked regions, and could lead to increased foreign investments in Bhutan. The Bhutanese government, under King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, has embraced digital assets, engaging in hydro-powered Bitcoin mining and accumulating over 13,000 BTC, making it the fifth-largest Bitcoin holder. Bhutan has also adopted crypto payments via Binance to enhance tourism, despite challenges like internet connectivity.
