Binance launches 24/7 FX perps with weekend pricing system
Binance is expanding into foreign exchange derivatives with 24/7 perpetual futures, beginning with a US dollar–Brazilian real contract on Sept. 21. The USDBRLUSDT product will be settled in USDT and offer up to 100x leverage. Unlike traditional FX markets that close on weekends, Binance will keep trading open continuously using a dual pricing system: during normal FX hours, prices will follow a weighted index from third-party data providers; on weekends and public holidays, pricing will rely on an orderbook-based method using an exponentially weighted moving average. Binance said the goal is to extend price discovery beyond standard FX hours and give traders a round-the-clock hedge and speculation tool. The launch follows Bybit’s recent rollout of similar 24/7 perpetuals for major FX pairs. Kraken also entered FX perpetuals earlier in 2025. The move targets the massive global FX market, where OTC turnover averages trillions of dollars per day.
