Bitcoin advocacy group to join US State Department’s ‘digital freedom’ program

The US State Department has launched the Freedom Tech Excellence Program to bring private-sector experts into short-term assignments focused on digital freedom, online expression, privacy-enhancing technologies, countering digital surveillance, and responsible AI governance. The Bitcoin Policy Institute said it is a founding partner in the program, alongside Palantir Technologies, Anduril Industries, and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. BPI said its staff will work with State Department experts to defend digital freedoms worldwide. BPI, a non-partisan crypto advocacy group formed in 2021, has also backed efforts to turn Trump’s executive order on a strategic crypto reserve into law.
