Following primary loss, crypto PACs invest $1.5M in 3 US state races
Fairshake-affiliated PACs Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress disclosed more than $1.5 million in new media spending to back congressional candidates in Florida, Alaska, and Wyoming. The spending supports several Republicans and Democrats, including Nick Begich in Alaska, Sydney Gruters in Florida, Harriet Hageman in Wyoming, and Lois Frankel in Florida. Much of the support went to lawmakers who voted for the GENIUS Act and CLARITY Act, signaling the crypto industry’s effort to reward favorable votes on market structure legislation. The disclosures came after a Protect Progress-backed candidate, Shri Thanedar, lost a Michigan primary despite more than $2 million in support. Fairshake and allied groups have already spent heavily in federal races, including over $170 million in the 2024 cycle, and are positioning 2026 as another major battleground as Congress debates crypto regulation.
