Bitcoin.com integrates UAE-registered US dollar stablecoin into self-custodial wallet
Bitcoin.com is adding USDU, a US dollar-backed stablecoin, to its self-custodial web and mobile wallet. USDU is issued by Abu Dhabi-based Universal Digital and is the first and only Foreign Payment Token registered under the UAE Central Bank’s Payment Token Services Regulation. Universal is also regulated by Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority to issue fiat-referenced tokens. Users will be able to hold, send, and receive USDU in the wallet, with swapping and buy/sell features expected later through third-party providers. Bitcoin.com also plans to accept USDU for selected services and eventually support payments between users and merchants, subject to jurisdiction. The move is part of a wider effort to expand USDU adoption. Recent support from Zodia Custody and a USDT-USDU liquidity pool on Uniswap have added institutional and decentralized liquidity for the token.
