Trump pushes for CLARITY Act passage alongside crypto leaders
Trump urged the Senate to pass a “fair version” of the CLARITY Act, saying it would help the US stay ahead of China. At a White House press event with Coinbase and Gemini executives, he pressed lawmakers to advance the crypto market structure bill, which passed the House in July but has stalled in the Senate over disputes about tokenized equities, stablecoin rewards, and potential conflicts involving Trump’s family and crypto ties. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the bill would create durable US crypto rules and could win more than 60 Senate votes after a cloture vote. Trump also said support was bipartisan and referenced Senator Lindsey Graham’s backing of the bill. The push came as the CFTC prepared to discuss crypto regulation and the SEC proposed new crypto rules and exemptions while CLARITY remains stuck.
