Bitcoin Die-Hard Jack Dorsey Doesn't Like Stablecoins, But Block Will Use Them Anyway
Jack Dorsey, CEO of Block Inc., has reluctantly agreed to support stablecoins due to customer demand, despite preferring Bitcoin and criticizing stablecoins as simply replacing one gatekeeper with another. Dorsey, a staunch Bitcoin advocate, values Bitcoin’s decentralized origins and pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, and has positioned Block as aligned with Bitcoin rather than the broader crypto space. Block supports Bitcoin through Cash App, Square merchant services, and Bitcoin hardware solutions. The company is currently rolling out a new payment flow integrated with Moneybot, its AI assistant, which will support stablecoins. The adoption of AI tools like Moneybot has led to significant job cuts at Block, with Dorsey asserting that such technology enables a smaller, more efficient workforce.
