Bitcoin ETFs sold through 7 of 8 crashes even as Wall Street makes BTC selloffs less violent

Summary

A DWF Labs study of 694 trading days found US spot Bitcoin ETFs had net outflows in seven of eight selloffs of at least 15%, while attracting inflows in all nine major rallies. Flows tended to follow recent price movements rather than predict them: their correlation with Bitcoin’s prior five-day returns was 0.54, versus 0.03 with subsequent returns. The report also found ETF-era selloffs have generally been slower and less frequent, though still substantial. It suggests some outflows reflect investors actively reducing exposure, not just hedge-fund basis-trade unwinds. The products have accumulated $57.96 billion in net inflows and manage about $110 billion in assets.
