Bitcoin price reaches $72.5K as US issues ‘Economic D-Day’ threat to Iran
Bitcoin jumped to an 11-week high above $72,500 after the Wall Street open as stocks fell and oil and bond yields rose on US-Iran tensions. The move followed Trump’s threats of “economic warfare” against Iran, which pushed WTI crude to its highest since late July and lifted US Treasury yields after a prior dip tied to Treasury liquidity measures. Despite the rally, analysts said it is too early to confirm a Bitcoin bull-market return. Some technical views still point to $60,000 as a weakening macro support level, and broader cycle analysis allows for a new major low into late 2026. However, CryptoQuant’s Ki Young Ju said spot and derivatives demand for Bitcoin has turned positive again; if that persists for another month, it could support the case that the bear market has ended and a new bull cycle has begun.
