Bitdeer expands AI infrastructure with long-term $4.7B data center lease
Bitdeer signed a 16-year lease worth up to $4.7 billion to supply 121 MW of IT capacity at its Tydal, Norway, data center for AI and high-performance computing workloads built on Nvidia GPUs. The tenant was identified only as a subsidiary of Volta Infra, and the deal is still subject to closing conditions. To back the tenant’s payment obligations, affiliates of JPMorgan and another global financial institution are expected to issue about $1.3 billion in letters of credit. Bitdeer shares rose about 8% after the announcement. The deal reflects Bitdeer’s broader shift beyond Bitcoin mining into AI infrastructure and hardware manufacturing. The company has also liquidated its Bitcoin holdings to zero to help fund expansion, unlike several peers that retain large BTC treasuries.
