Bitdeer lands $4.7 billion AI lease tied to Anthropic but must deliver by year end

Summary

Bitdeer signed a 16-year AI infrastructure lease through its Tydal Data Center subsidiary to supply 121 MW at its Norway campus. The deal, tied to Volta and reportedly an Anthropic-linked workload, could generate about $4.7 billion over the full term, or roughly $290 million a year at the expected rate, with 3% annual increases. Payments start only after Bitdeer completes about $500 million in additional construction, and the campus is planned to come online in two phases by Dec. 31, 2026 and Mar. 31, 2027. Volta can exit after 10 years without a fee, while an extension could raise total value to about $8 billion. Bitdeer plans to finance the build with new debt and will keep full ownership of the site, avoiding equity dilution. The deal marks a major shift from Bitcoin mining toward steadier AI-focused revenue, but execution and financing remain the key risks.
