Bitget freezes XRP withdrawals as 27M stolen tokens move

Summary

Bitget’s XRP withdrawals remained disabled on Sept. 26, while its timetable set Oct. 2 at 08:00 UTC for reopening withdrawals of other tokens, fiat and peer-to-peer services. Deposits and trading continued, and Bitget said the pause followed a Sept. 24 breach, whose vulnerability it had fixed, with user balances unaffected. Bitquery estimated about 102.98 million XRP was stolen; by Sept. 26, 27.63 million had moved onward and 75.35 million remained in tracked attacker accounts. It traced some outgoing XRP toward THORChain and swaps into Bitcoin, but this does not establish how much was sold on spot markets. Bitget separately revised its total multi-asset loss estimate to about $387.5 million, citing additional Zcash and TRON assets in its accounting.
