BlackRock Expands Tokenized Fund BUIDL Beyond Ethereum to Five New Blockchains
BlackRock is expanding its tokenized real-world asset fund, the USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL), to five additional blockchains: Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism's OP Mainnet, and Polygon. This move enhances access to the largest money-market fund token, previously limited to Ethereum. The fund, created in partnership with Securitize, aims to leverage tokenization for faster settlements and operational efficiencies in traditional finance. BUIDL, introduced in March, is backed by short-term U.S. government bonds and maintains a price anchored to $1. It has attracted over $520 million in deposits, making it the largest product in the $2.3 billion tokenized U.S. Treasury market. Management fees vary by blockchain, with lower fees on Aptos, Avalanche, and Polygon.
