BlackRock's Fink Says an Ether ETF Is Possible Even if ETH Is a Security

Summary

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink believes that an Ether ETF could still be possible even if the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) classifies the cryptocurrency as a security. The SEC is currently investigating whether Ether should be classified as a security, which has raised concerns about the feasibility of an Ether ETF in the U.S. Eight potential issuers, including BlackRock, have submitted filings to the SEC for a spot Ether ETF, with a decision expected in May. BlackRock is also one of 11 issuers of spot Bitcoin ETFs, with its iShares Bitcoin Fund (IBIT) collecting over $15 billion in assets in just two and a half months, making it the fastest-growing ETF in history. Fink expressed his optimism about the long-term viability of Bitcoin and the creation of a market with more liquidity and transparency.
