BNB Chain pursues legal action after ex-employee’s memecoin launch
Summary
BNB Chain said it is taking legal action after a former employee allegedly kept unauthorized access to a tutorial wallet’s seed phrase and used it to launch a memecoin. The wallet had been created for a video showing how to launch tokens on BNB Chain. BNB Chain said it did not create, authorize, promote, or control the token or the wallet involved. Blockchain data platform Lookonchain alleged the employee deployed Asteroid Shiba (ASTEROID), bought 79.67% of supply through four fresh wallets, then sold most of it for about 1,103 BNB, worth roughly $638,000 at the time. Changpeng Zhao reposted BNB Chain’s statement and called the former employee “basically a scammer,” warning users to “Stay SAFU.”
