Capital.com plans UAE spot crypto services after affiliate wins licence
Capital.com plans to add spot crypto trading for UAE clients after its affiliate, Capital Vault, received a virtual-asset license from the country’s Capital Market Authority. The license lets Capital Vault act as an agent or matching principal in virtual assets and provide client custody. When launched, users in the UAE will be able to buy and hold real crypto in the Capital.com app, with Capital Vault handling execution, custody, and settlement. This will differ from Capital.com’s CFD products, which only give price exposure without owning the underlying asset. Capital Vault operates as a separate regulated entity, with independent governance, custody, and risk controls, and has opened an Abu Dhabi office. The approval comes after the CMA introduced a broader virtual-asset framework in April, expanding regulated activities and adding rules on conduct, trading systems, AML, and prudential standards.
