Cardano Chang Hard Fork Rolls Out With A Minor Glitch
The Cardano blockchain successfully implemented the Chang hard fork on September 1, 2024, marking the beginning of the "Conway ledger era" and enhancing decentralized governance through the Voltaire upgrade. This update allows all ADA holders to submit proposals and participate in decision-making. The Cardano Foundation highlighted this shift towards a self-governing network. The hard fork activated Plutus v3, introducing advanced cryptographic features and improving smart contract performance with faster execution times. However, a technical issue related to ledger state snapshots emerged, requiring a hotfix to prevent prolonged synchronization for nodes restarted after the hard fork. A hotfix, version 9.1.1, is being prepared to address this issue. As of the latest update, ADA was trading at $0.3294.
