Claude Opus 5 Outscores Fable 5 on Most Benchmarks—At Half the Price
Claude Opus 5 is now Anthropic’s main public-facing model and is cheaper to run for businesses than Claude Fable 5 while also beating it on major benchmarks. Anthropic’s lineup includes Haiku, Sonnet, Opus, and the Mythos tier; Fable 5 had served as the everyday flagship but was pulled after a jailbreak issue, later returned on a credits-only basis, and never regained its earlier role. Opus 5 shows stronger results in coding, agentic workflows, and reasoning: it outperforms Fable 5 on Frontier-Bench, ARC-AGI-3, GDPval-AA v2, and automation tests, and it is described as more stable across runs. It also appears to improve research and scientific analysis, with only narrow Fable advantages in legal and health tasks. Pricing is $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, with a faster mode available at double cost.
