Zeus Wallet taken offline after cyberattack, says no customer funds at risk
Zeus Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning wallet, took its infrastructure offline after a cybersecurity incident and is auditing systems before restoring service. Zeus said customer funds were not at risk and it found no evidence that Lightning node software was affected; the issue appears limited to Zeus infrastructure. Founder Evan Kaloudis said the attack was mitigated within hours. Users whose Lightning Service Provider channels closed during the outage will receive replacement channels once services resume. Zeus did not disclose the attack type or give a restoration timeline. The incident is pushing the company to accelerate work on trusted execution environments and the Validating Lightning Signer project. The outage came shortly after Zeus said it would disable swaps because Boltz suspended operations.
