Coinbase files to bring single-stock perpetual futures to US market
Summary
Coinbase has filed with the CFTC to launch single-stock perpetual futures in the U.S., aiming to give traders 24/5 leveraged exposure to individual equities without owning the shares. Perpetual futures do not expire, unlike standard futures. The products would extend Coinbase’s existing perpetual futures framework, which currently covers crypto assets and is already offered to eligible non-U.S. traders. The proposed contracts are pending regulatory approval and are classified as single-stock futures. Coinbase also recently filed with the SEC to register as a national securities exchange for offering security futures. Reported launch plans include contracts linked to about 50–60 stocks, such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia.
