Coinbase Opens IPO Allocations To US Retail Traders Starting With Oura
Coinbase is expanding its app beyond crypto trading to include access to initial public offerings for eligible US retail customers. Through Coinbase Capital Markets, users can submit a Conditional Offer to Buy shares at the IPO price before trading begins. The first available IPO is Oura. Participation does not guarantee shares: allocations depend on availability, eligibility checks, and Coinbase’s allocation process. Coinbase also uses a holding incentive designed to encourage longer-term ownership; selling allocated IPO shares within 30 days can result in a 60-day ban from future IPO participation. The move pushes Coinbase further into retail brokerage territory, but it is not acting as the IPO underwriter or guaranteeing allocations.
