Crypto billionaires bankroll Nigel Farage's pro-crypto party
Reform UK has become the UK’s best-funded party this year, raising about £7 million from two crypto billionaires. Christopher Harborne donated about $4 million and Ben Delo, BitMEX co-founder, gave about $5.4 million. That total exceeded the first-quarter fundraising of Labour and the Conservatives, each at roughly $5.4 million. The party is strongly pro-crypto: it was the first UK party to accept Bitcoin donations, and Nigel Farage has proposed cutting crypto capital gains tax from 24% to 10% and urged the Bank of England to consider a Bitcoin reserve. Harborne’s latest donation brings his total to $20 million over the past year, following a separate $6.7 million personal gift that is under parliamentary scrutiny. Reform’s fundraising was up sixfold year over year, reflecting broader crypto-industry efforts to shape politics.
