Crypto Confusion: 50% of Non-Investors Say They Don’t Understand It Well Enough to Buy

Summary

A report by the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) indicates that lack of information is a significant barrier to digital asset adoption among US consumers. Nearly 70% of 2,000 surveyed non-crypto holders expressed the need for more information before considering digital assets. About half reported a lack of understanding of how cryptocurrency works, while others cited security and fraud concerns. The survey revealed that 34% of participants are open to learning more about digital assets. The NCA aims to educate Americans on crypto, supported by a $50 million grant from Ripple. Recent data shows a decline in interest compared to earlier findings, which indicated that one in five US adults owned cryptocurrency. Ripple executives, including NCA president Stuart Alderoty, have been active in Washington, D.C., engaging with government officials on cryptocurrency legislation.
